Paula has worked with Sentara Healthcare for more than three years and was recently promoted to Senior Employee Relations Consultant at Sentara Leigh Hospital. She has shared her dedication to improving the employee experience for more than 25 years, working in many human resources roles before joining Sentara.

“I am proud to be a part of Sentara for the remaining journey of my career,” she says.

Paula’s weekends take her on a different type of journey—escaping into the plot of a good book, visiting with family and friends, or driving with husband in their Jeep to the sands and surf of area beaches. She knows the area well, having grown up in Chesapeake and currently living in Virginia Beach, and she enjoys recommending local spots others may not discover.

Being a local meant that Paula saw the positive impact Sentara has had on the communities it serves over the years. Now, she gets to be a part of the mission of improving health every day. She says the people of Sentara are the foundation of what makes it a leading healthcare system.

One of the things that I love most about working here is my team,” she says.  “Although we are all at different divisions, we remain closely connected. Whether it is through a phone call, chat messages or video chat, we are a team that stays connected to have each other’s back.  My leaders are also always communicating news, updates and just checking in with us. I really have a great support system within our team!”
