David Smith, team coordinator, maintenance, plant operations/engineering at Sentara CarePlex Hospital, is one of the experts we count on to keep our hospitals running smoothly.
David and his wife hadn’t intended to shift their careers to the healthcare field, but twists in life lead them there.
“Healthcare found my wife and me,” explains David, a facilities team coordinator at Sentara CarePlex Hospital. “My wife was very sick and spent a long stay at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital (SNGH). During the same time, my previous career came to a sudden end when that business unexpectedly closed its doors.”
Since he was at the hospital already, David, a licensed master electrician, inquired about electrician jobs at Sentara. His search landed him as the team leader of the electrical shop at Sentara CarePlex Hospital.
